scar and paperwork
Hey,
Sorry for not giving news lately, I was lazy at home!
Well not really lazy but actually quite buzy. It's so unsual to be at home that I get to do stuff
that I'm not really use to, specially cause there hasn't been any waves for 3 weeks.
I finnaly got the surgery I needed for the thumb I broke in January, and since then I going to the physio at least 2 hours everyday only working on my thumb. Trust me, when you break your thumb or anything don't wait 2 months to get surgery or you'll get rehab for 6 months when it usaully take 2.
But I still can do pretty much everything, so I was fortunate to take part of the 2nd edition of the odysey "du flocon à la vague". It's a sport adventure that takes you during 4 days from the top of the pic du midi mountain to the beaches of the basque country, doing all different sport that you can do all the way: snowboarding, trail running, canoe, rafting, stand up paddle, surf, sailling... But wich is even better in that event is that it's made to raise awareness on environmental problem and specially around water.
Well we had a lot of fun and for a great cause.
Now that the waves are back, I could get a bit of surfing, but I'll be back on snow next week end for a demo at the closing party of the famous "la folie douce" in Val d'Isere.
Stay tuned, I'll update more oftenly!

This afternoon I joined Surfrider foundation for one of their many actions to protect the oceans. We spend the afternoon collecting waste dragged on the beach by the oceans and rivers. This is happening all week end long all over Europe, if you want to

Winter X Games TIGNES
Hi there,
Just got back from the first european x games in Tignes. Let me take you through the week.
After the olympics I'm went home for few days but quickly decided to go back on the snow to train a bit on kickers in Vars, but the weather wasn't really nice. Anyway we had a few powder turns witch was pretty nice. Then I got in Tignes in time for the first practice, but I already felt the tiredness of a long season! Everything was looking great but me! The contest started on wednesday with the slopestyle qualifiers. Everybody struggle with speed and had hard times making the jumps. I ended up 9th but top 8 made it to finals! I knew my main goal woudn't be slopestyle but missing the finals by one spot is always raging!
On thursday came the qualifiers for pipe. It went quite smoothly for Aluan and me, a bit less for Arthur who landed pretty hard on the coping twice on his double corks.
The finals for pipe were planned as the last competition of the event, we had a lot of pressure as all the frenchies before us killed it specially kevin and xavier in the ski pipe finals.
I've been working really hard to get a run that would give me points with judges but that I would be stocked with in terms of progression and variety, but I couldn't stomp that run yet.
I felt really tired before the finals and nearly didn't train, but I had a lot of people that helped me believe that it was possible specially my coaches Stéphane and Valerie. I finally made my second run witch gave me a good score but I knew there was room for higher scores. That's exactly what Iouri did with a near perfect run. On my last one I wanted to step it up to try to catch ipod's run but I under-rotated my first double cork! I end up second witch is a great result for me, being in France for the x games with some of the best riders in the world and probably the best crowed was amazing.
It's now time to take a bit of rest, get surgery for my thumb and hit a bit of backcountry and freeride. See you. check the video and photos (credit fluofun and david tchag)

This olympic experience...
Hi there, Wanted to thank you all for your support through the years. This olympic experience has been great, the result is not quite there, so I'm disappointed but I have no regret at all. I gave my best, during the contest and even more in my preparation. It's been a hard year with a lot of injuries, everytime I had to fight to come back strong and move forward. And that's the most important thing I've learned in this journey, everytime you fall is to get back on your feet stronger than ever, that's why nothing's done for me, I have so much more challenges to achieve and I won't give up. Thanks again. Mathieu

last trainings
That's it, the french selection is made for the olympics, it's gonna be Gary Zebrowski, Aluan Ricciardi, Arhtur Longo and myself going to Vancouver.
But for now we are in Park City for our last days of training. The conditions are great, everybody feels a bit of pressure coming up and is riding super good.
We had some bad news about the olympic pipe in cypress where it's really warm right now but it will be ready in time.
Next update live from Vancouver.
